Virginia Plastic Pollution Prevention Network
Working together to reduce plastic pollution
What is the Virginia Plastic Pollution
Prevention Network?
The Virginia Plastic Pollution Prevention Network (VP3N) is a coalition of people and organizations working to address plastic pollution and marine debris across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Members of the VP3N are organizations that are working on issues related to plastic pollution including non-profits, educational facilities, businesses, trade industries, researchers and governmental agencies.
The mission of the VP3N is to promote and facilitate coordination, collaboration, and communication among groups working to reduce plastic pollution throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The VP3N, started in 2020, seeks to foster cooperation, communication, information sharing, and collaboration among groups involved in all types of plastic pollution prevention in Virginia. The VP3N was co-founded by Clean Virginia Waterways, Eco Maniac Company, LLC, and the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program (at the VA Department of Environmental Quality). The VP3N is a result of the Virginia Marine Debris Reduction Plan which identified the benefits that increased collaboration could bring to the many and diverse issues around marine debris and plastic pollution. Administrative support for the VP3N is provided by Clean Virginia Waterways.
The VP3N will not do original research, advocate for policies or legislation, or organize events. Its goal, instead, is to facilitate communication among people who are working on plastic pollution and marine debris sources and solutions.
